Hello friends.  My name is Natosha Gobin.  I am Snohomish which is part of the Tulalip Tribes.  I am 27 and a proud mother of two little boys.  KC is my older son and Kane is my younger son.  My father’s family is the Gobins.   My mother’s family is the Hill/Price.  I am a teacher of the beautiful Lushootseed language at the Tulalip Elementary for grades 3-5.  I love the work that I do with the Lushootseed language.
I started my work with the language while I was still in high school by volunteering as a group leader at the Annual Lushootseed Camp, which is held during the summer.  Two of my sisters have been Lushootseed teachers for many years.  They encouraged me to apply for a position that opened up shortly after I graduated from high school.  I am now working on my eighth year as a Language Teacher.
Motivation for my hard work comes from many different people, but four special people in particular.  Two have passed on and two are still encouraging me when we see each other.  My Grandma Elsie took part in passing the language on to her family and community members.  Jerry Jones always let us teachers know how important we were to him and our community.  He let us know that no matter how hard it may be to continue our work and get the language into every home and at every event, we were meant to do the work.  Every morning he would give us praise, and every morning it meant the world to us to hear his words.
Te-at-mus is always by our side, preaching to the community of our hard work.  He has attended every language camp and has his special time with the children during circle to work on traditional teachings.  I have learned so much from Te-at-mus and I am thankful for his support.  My grandpa Bernie has encouraging words every time that I see him.  He lets me know how proud he is of me and what I do~and that means everything to me.
I am proud and grateful for all the hard work that has gone into this program, starting with the days of Thom Hess going door to door with his recorder, to the present days of nine great teachers reaching out to as many as we can!  One of the main goals of this program is to find a way to get Lushootseed into every home and every life of our community.  We hope that this website will help us get our work into your family and home.  Thank you for your interest in our program.  We hope to see you soon for some lessons!
