Our Annual Language Camp will be held the last two weeks of July. Attached is a sign up form that you can fill out and send our way. For those who are not familiar with Language Camp here are some details:
It is open to 100 children (tribal preference applies) ages 5-12. We break children up into two groups of 50, one group attends the first week, the second group attends the second week. Once we determine what week they will attend, we break them up into five groups where they will have a group leader to help them at 8 different stations. The groups are determined by age. The stations that they will participate in are: Play, Art, Weaving, Traditional Teachings, Language, Games, Songs and Technology. There is a theme for camp and each station teaches children about the theme. This year we will be honoring Dave Spencer, Sr. for his dedication to the revitalization of our language and his continued support with our program. He has shared his artwork with us to create visuals to go along with some traditional stories. We will be honoring him at our Friday Ceremonies (July 25th & August 1st) where the children will showcase what they have learned throughout the week. The ceremony starts at 11:30 and gets over around 1:00. All community members are invited to this event, lunch provided.
